Target Species
Redfish & Speckled Trout in the Louisiana Marsh
The Delacroix area is a redfish and speckled trout fishery. Both species fish well here year-round — the tactics and locations shift with the seasons, but there's always something biting.
Redfish (Red Drum)
Sciaenops ocellatus
The backbone of Delacroix inshore fishing. Slot reds run 18–27", bull reds push well over 40". We fish them in the shallow grass flats where they tail and feed — one of the most exciting things you'll see in saltwater fishing.
Speckled Trout
Cynoscion nebulosus
Louisiana's most popular inshore target. Specks hit topwater aggressively, they fight well, and they're outstanding on the plate. Fall through spring is prime time in this area — but they're around all year.
The Fishing Grounds
Delacroix, Louisiana
We launch out of Delacroix into the lower St. Bernard Parish marsh — a network of bayous, cuts, lakes, and grass flats stretching toward Breton Sound. Captain Joe has fished this water his whole life and knows it better than anyone.

I get a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction from helping people learn how to do inshore fishing. That's the part of the job I enjoy the most.
Captain Joe has been fishing the Delacroix and lower St. Bernard Parish marsh his entire life. He grew up on this water. He knows where the redfish stack up in July, where the speckled trout hold in November, and how a tide change shifts the whole picture. That's not something you learn from a guidebook.
Most of the people who fish with Captain Joe come in from out of state — some with serious fishing backgrounds, plenty with almost none. Either way, he's going to put you on fish and make sure you understand what's happening around you.
